The affordable Taurus TX22 single action, striker-fired semi-automatic .22 LR Rimfire pistol comes in just one appealing size: large. Its dimensions are similar to other such pistols.

The height is 5.44″”, width is 1.25″” and the weight at 17.3 ounces is just over one pound. The barrel is 4.10″” long, bringing the total length to 7.06″”.

At

the back is an adjustable for elevation and windage white dot rear sight while the front features a fixed white dot sight. The slide is high grade aluminum, the barrel is alloy steel and the frame is polymer. For clean, crisp trigger breaks, the gun features the precision-designed Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS) while a short Picatinny attachment MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail sits under the muzzle.

Many

other specifications and features are fairly standard. For instance, the slide has a hard anodized black finish. It has a trigger safety and a striker block safety (which blocks the striker unless the trigger is pulled). Some models also have a manual safety.

The gun is aesthetically pleasing. To the almost standard M1911 overall design, it also adds a slide that is faceted at top, front and back. The gun has attractive diagonal fore and rear serrated slide grips.

There is an unusual recess in the slide just above the trigger. It points up toward the back of the receiver. The lines of the trigger guard also continue halfway across the grip. The frame comes in several different colors including black, olive drab and flat dark earth.

The

grip is texturized all the way around. The fore grip is scalloped for the better middle finger placement while the backstrap is wonderfully curved for better comfort.

Some features are designed for universal operation. For instance, the optional manual safety is ambidextrous, and the gun has a reversible magazine release.

The

standard configuration is 16 rounds with a threaded barrel. However, to comply with laws in certain states, a 10 round non-threaded barrel is also an option albeit only with the black frames.
